Well, that was an expensive tour of north central Texas. In spite of it all I am not disappointed. I got numerous military plane photos outside Abilene and many interesting night time shots in and around Alvord TX where David’s parents grew up. Total bust on the storms though. David and I are going to grab a bite to eat in Decatur, hopefully at a restaurant where we can get served as opposed to typical fast food chase grub, and then slowly make our way back to Lubbock through the storms starting to fire along the cold front. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for some lightning!!

Decided that the the Throckmorton storm was too good to pass up, currently turning on HWY 351 to intercept, although we are leaving open the possibility of other storms breaking the cap down to the SW within the tornado watch. If a storm does this it will be easily accessible.

Currently sitting just W of Abilene Tx watching the convective tower fest currently underway a couple counties to our NE. At the present time we are resisting the urge to go after it with hopes of more discrete cells further south.
New MD for much farther south of us issued with a tornado watch likely.

Mesoscale Discussion shows that David’s morning forecast is starting to verify, tornado watch has just been issued with our target area in the southern extent of the watch, and currently a rapidly developing cumulus field is developing infront of us on the other side of the dryline. We are currently on the dry side of the dryline quickly heading towards the juicy air.

Hey Everyone,
My name is Graham Butler and as David has mentioned in some of his previous posts I am his chase partner; well, when my schedule allows. I am currently a grad student at Texas Tech University getting my masters in geology; between classes, research, and teaching my life has been devoted to school. I have been chasing since 2001 although only since 2004 have I been chasing with David.
Enough of the boring stuff. Since I will be in the co-pilots seat today I will be working the laptop and consequently writing most of the blogs. We are currently grabbing a bite to eat in Post, TX and will be continuing to our tentative target, Sweetwater, TX, shortly.
And now what everyone has been waiting for: The streaming LIVE ChaseCAM is now active and will be running for the duration of the chase. So drive with us to the target area.
Stay tuned for more updates.
